Questionnaires about Publishing Journals: Take Science in (y)our Hands
In September 2023, KIT Scientific Publishing (KSP) started a new service of publishing scientific journals. The new publishing service began with the project "Diamond Thinking" to support KITs researchers in starting a new scientific journal or transferring their existing scientific journal to KSP, university’s own publisher.
Now, we are relaunching our website with an emphasis on our motto “Take science in (y)our hands”, which is an appeal to scientists to come forward and actively participate in reshaping the Open Science movement. To understand the opinion of the scientific communities about journal publishing, KSP is introducing two questionnaires in connection with the project “Diamond Thinking.” The two questionnaires, titled “To flip or not to flip: Toward Diamond OA Publishing” and “Starting a new Journal: A Checklist”, can be found on our website.
Our target group includes professors, university departments, and researchers, who have experience as editors of scientific journals or wish to gain such experience.
With the launch of the questionnaires, we aim to:
- Raise awareness about the new service at KIT Library.
- Provide information about upcoming changes in scientists’ publication habits at the international level.
- Pique scientists’ interest in the issue of Open Access publication.
- Understand the campus’ sentiments regarding the relevance of these issues.
If policymakers wish to make a shift towards sustainable publication models, the voices and opinions of scientists and researchers should be at the centre of any such change.
