International Open Access Week: “Low-cost and no-cost community-developed services: A showcase and discussion from the institutional publishing perspective” - Online Panel Discussion

22. Oktober 2026 10:30 - 12:00Online
The panel discussion is one among different events organised by KIT Library during the International Open Access Week (19–25 October 2026).

Considering that this year’s theme is “The Cost of Knowledge,” the planned event will give this topic a positive spin by discussing the importance of various community-developed and community-governed services available to institutional publishers, and specifically to university publishers, at little or no cost.

The programme is inspired by various free knowledge- and practice-sharing services and tools and will start with a showcase of a few such services available to the publishers. Representatives of community-led initiatives, such as SeDOA, OPERAS, and AG Universitätsverlage (Association of University Publishers) have also been invited to join the discussion.

Intended as a platform for knowledge sharing and discussion, the 90-minute event will feature short introductions to selected services, followed by an open discussion where participants can ask questions, share experiences, and bring forth criticisms.

No prior registration required.
